Along time ago in a far-away church..

..a decision was made conciously or unconciously to teach that the Spiritual gifts died with the apostles, and are no longer for today, This is far from the case, and if you will humor me for a few minutes let me explain why I teach that the gifts are relevant and should be excercised today, although I you may disagree if you have grown up in a church which teaches this, or at worse give them cursory lipservice, they exist but "we cultivate the fruit, but the gifts are not practised in our church...", please read the following reasoned arguments and pray about it if you disagree, ask the Holy Spirit to lead you into the truth..

Reasons for Gifts being for today..
1) Jesus is Part of The Thinity, God/Jesus/Holy Spirit, there for has same power and authority as God because Jesus is God, and his character therefore does not change.
2) If God is unchanging, so are the promises of Jesus. if we belive that Jesus is the same, yesterday today and forever, then he has the same desires/power today as 2000 years ago, and if we can accept his promise of salvation, then because he is unchanging and faithful, we can accept ALL his other promises too..
3) The Holy Spirt is a promise from Jesus, "when he is come, he will lead you into all truth" and scripture says "We are sealed with the Holy Spirit, the guarantee seal of our salvation", Paul also says , "our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit"

So, has the same Holy Spirit that was involved in creation, been reduced to a mere token, I see no evidence from scripture or church history to back this up, so the logic says the same creative power exhibited at creation by him is still his today.

Maybe the church today is in the state it is in beacuse the people of God have filled the temple with idols and clutter, rather than the Holy Spirit of God..
